Concerts and Events

 May Madness Car Parade 

Saturday, May 18th

Please come out and support the Bands and Color Guard as they perform as a classic marching band.

The first in 30 years in the San Rafael Public Schools! 

The Parade begins at 5:00pm and the bands will march up Fourth street from Cijos street to B street. 

 

Davidson's Intermediate Band earns Unanimous Superior!

Congratulations to the Davidson Intermediate Band for earning a Unanimous Superior rating at the CMEA band festival in South San Franciso.

It takes all three judges to earn a Unanimous Superior, it is the highest rating given. Only one other school earned this rating at the two day event.

                  Advanced Jazz Band from 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Saturday, May 18, Armijo Band Review – Concert, Jazz, and Marching Band Competitions

Advanced and Intermediate Bands, Jazz Bands, Combined Marching Band

Early Morning start – all day event.

                  Choruses, and Beginning, and Advanced Orchestras 7:00PM

Wednesday, May 22,  Bands Concert,

                  Advanced Band, Intermediate Band, Beginning Band, Jazz Bands - 7:00PM, DMS Gym

Thursday, May 23 , Assemblies

                  Chorus, Steel Pans, Orchestra, Advanced Band, and Jazz during school day. DMS Gym

                  Advanced and Beginning Steel Pan Classes

Davidson's Advanced Band starts Leadership Team

 

Advanced Band Council  March 20, 2013

Congratulations to the following students for being selected by their class mates as members of the Band Council

Flutes – Cameron Kong

Clarinets – Justin Neal

Saxes – Zoe Herbermann

High Brass – Daniel Machado

Low Brass – Levi Williams

Rhythm Section – Johnnie Lee Fain

Drum Major – Jeffrey Ford

 

 

These students will help the class make decisions about Events, Music, Services, and help find ways to improve their Band. 

Students from each section should bring ideas, issues, problems, and solutions to their respective section leaders. 

The council will meet at lunch on Wednesdays. 

 

 

Davidson's Intermediate Band will attend their first Band and Orchestra Festival on March 29th!

The band will perform three prepared pieces and be given advice by three expert judges.

This is a major step for our students, wish them luck. 

Davidson's Orchestra and Choir will also be attending CMEA festivals in the coming weeks and months. 

These events are our version of a STAR test.

Music in the Parks Festival Trip A Huge Success

Davidson's Music groups performed to the highest standards at the Music in the Parks Festival.

Groups receive ratings of Fair, Good, Excellent, or Superior from University Professors and Professional Musicians for their performances. 

Also, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places are awarded to the top groups in their division (divisions are determined by school size) 

The Orchestra earned an Excellent and a 3rd place award, The Jazz Band also earned an Excellent rating and placed second.

The Choir earned a Superior rating and placed first in the treble choir division. The Advanced Band earned a Superior Rating, Placed 1st in their division and also earned the 1st place Overall award.

For the first time, our steel pan classes performed at this festival and the 7th graders earned an excellent rating and the 8th graders earned a Superior rating for their performances.  

After performing, students spent the day at Great America!

Thanks to all of the parents who chaperoned, drove equipment trucks, and supported this event.

San Francisco Symphony Trip

Tuesday, Jan. 22nd

Davidson Middle School’s 1st Year Music students had an opportunity to hear one of the best symphonies in the world thanks to the Friends of Davidson Music Foundation and a discounted ticket program by the San Francisco Symphony.
