International Walk to School Day!

It’s the 20th Anniversary of

International Walk to School Day!

Nineteen percent of our students get to Davidson by walking or biking. We’d like to increase that number to improve our student’s health and well-being, reduce pollution, and reduce traffic around our school. Please encourage your student to Walk or Bike to school…

EVERY WEDNESDAY in October (12th, 19th, 26th)

We will have a welcome table in front of school every Wednesday - your student can fill-out a raffle ticket to win a Razor scooter, and more prizes!  If you live too far, drop your student off 4-6 blocks away from school and he/she can join the fun by walking the rest of the way.

Keeping Students Safe at School and Recent Clown Hoax

Dear San Rafael City Schools Community,

As you may be aware, there is a social media hoax that is being shared throughout the country, including the Bay Area, about clowns attacking people in communities and schools and other related threats of violence. This topic has taken national social media by storm, and many of you may be aware that this topic of creepy clowns has surfaced in local social media and in discussions among our student and parent populations.

We are not aware of any potential threat to any San Rafael City School at this time, but we do realize this topic is being discussed by many. I want to assure you that the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority and something which every member of this community takes very seriously. We have plans and systems in place to ensure that school continues to be one of the safest places for your children to be during the day. We work closely with the police department and our school administration to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

While we are not aware of any issues or concerns involving our schools, it is important to always be aware of your surroundings and report anything that looks out of place, and to remind your students to do the same. That, along with our emergency plans and procedures, is how we all partner together to ensure our schools continue to be safe places for our students and staff.

Thank you for your continued support!

Michael Watenpaugh, Ed.D.
